Teeth cleaning & regular check-ups

If excessive tartar is beginning to form on your pets’ teeth or if their breathe is starting to smell, often they will need their teeth cleaned professionally. This is much the same as us humans going to the dentist.

At Belconnen Veterinary Centre, we can scale and polish your pet’s teeth to ensure they’re as clean as possible. This also give us a good opportunity to check for broken teeth, gingivitis, or gingival recession. We can also remove/extract any diseased or damaged teeth. 

Dental disease

Dental disease is quite common in dogs, cats, rabbits, and ferrets. Common signs of dental disease include:

  • Bad breath 

  • Discoloured or stained teeth 

  • Tartar build up

  • Broken teeth 

  • Salivating

  • Reluctance to eat hard foods/kibble

Dental prophylaxis for our pets is a great idea in principle but is often hard to implement. We stock a wide range of dental chews, treats, flavour toothpaste, and animal specific tooth paste to make keeping your pets teeth clean as easy as possible. 

Therapies & surgery

Here at Belconnen Vet centre, we can also perform root canal therapies, repair jaw fractures using plates, acrylic resins and advanced 3d printed retainers.

Advanced imaging

We are the only Vet in Canberra offering dental CT – we are quietly proud to say we can offer a service not yet common place in the human dental market.
