Signs Your Pet May Have a Broken Bone
Fractures can sometimes be subtle. Many pets — especially cats, small dogs, or rabbits — will try to keep moving despite a serious injury. You may notice:
- Limping or not using a limb at all
- Crying, whining, or signs of pain when touched or moved
- Swelling or bruising around the injured area
- Visible deformity – the limb may look twisted or bent abnormally
- Open fracture – bone visibly sticking out of the skin or an open wound over a fracture site
